Principal's Message

Welcome to Forrest Parade School — a vibrant and inclusive learning community located in Bellamack, Palmerston, in the Northern Territory.

At Forrest Parade School, we proudly cater to verified students from Pre-school to Year 6. Our philosophy is powerful: inclusion is not a place, but a culture. We offer a positive and supportive environment where every child receives an individualised education program tailored to their unique learning needs.

We celebrate the rich cultural backgrounds of our families and staff, and we are deeply committed to fostering excellence and belonging. Our goal is to instil in every student a sense of community, respect, and the understanding that diversity is a strength.

We believe that every child can learn to read and write. To make this a reality, we actively identify and address barriers to learning, using the Comprehensive Literacy approach which integrates communication, listening, understanding, reading, and writing. Comprehensive Literacy Instruction is an explicit evidence based, purposeful, approach to literacy that engages students in all of these components. It also recognises that in every classroom, each student may have different skills which help them to progress as readers and writers – and that for every student to develop further we need to teach this comprehensive range of skills.

As a communication accessible school, we uphold the belief that communication is a human right (United Nations, 1948). We align with the Communication Bill of Rights (Brady et al., 2016) and use Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD) communication books across all curriculum areas and school places. All staff are trained in PODD and model its use throughout the school day, ensuring every child has a voice.

Our dedicated staff are committed to professional development and high expectations for teaching and learning. Together, we have made significant progress in fostering a culture of excellence, ensuring that every student and staff member at Forrest Parade School thrives.

It is my privilege to lead this inspiring community, and we are committed to improving access, inclusion, and equity for all students.  We invite you to explore our website to learn more about our school as you see evidence of our commitment to being a communication accessible school as we collaborate to provide every child with a voice, a writing tool and a readiness to learn.
